I didn't like this book as much as others as I found it more negative than positive. Each page starts off with a negative statement and then tries to come up with something positive, so, for me, it is of limited use, though the pictures are cute!

A memory book: someone I love has died by Irving, Tricia

Publication: Wellington Mallinson Rendel Publishers Ltd 2000 29 Date: 2000

This has been a hit on so many levels with so many children and adults. One very angry 9 year old boy used it to remember his precious dog. The 11 year old girl whose Mum had died said it's very simple but hugged it to her and said "I really love it". Her 6 year old sister has one too. Staff were keen to have it for their own use and their children. It's absolutely brilliant.

This is a good book for older children who don't have ASD. I shared this book with the 11 yer old whose Mum died last week. She is working through the activities and enjoying the journey. She's sharing happy moments and realises her feelings are very normal. She knows the staff and school are here to support her.
