Summary: "A pictorial cookbook to assist teens and young adults with developmental disabilities to learn basic concepts of nutrition, skills for making recipes using all the MyPyramid food groups and respect for food and kitchen safety." - SUMMARYReview: Let’s cook has been developed as a result of discussion between project staff and a focus group looking at their need to cook healthy meals on their own. All of the requirements were included in this final cookbook; large print recipes, lots of pictures, clear preparation steps and for it to be a book that couldn’t be mistaken as a children’s one. All recipes are colour coded into different food groups and supported by colourful photos and clear directions. Each recipe is broken down into 3 basic phases, what I need, what I use and what I do. There are food and kitchen safety tips, healthy snacks advice and what to choose when eating out. I particularly like the tip of asking for the take-away bag first so that if the meal is large you can down size it to a healthy portion! This will be very useful for independent development of healthy eating habits after initial assistance from a carer or family member.

Very clear instructions and pictures help too. Every supported living home should have one!

Good manageable size for a student resource. Good clear diagrams. I liked the section on food safety and what you use (kitchen tools)
