Autism Asperger's Digest
August 2020: 25-27
2161-0746
Describes how a British couple, Ed Thompson and Becky Webb, have helped to develop programs for those with autism in the Asian heartlands of Kyrgyzstan. The organisation they work for, Hand in Hand, was founded in 2012 in Bishkek by a parental group determined to improve the standard of their autistic children's education. It offers education to autistic children from early childhood to transition to adulthood, a program which is entirely unique in a country that thinks autism relates to being mentally incompetent.
