While the DVD contains scenes of intensive interaction in schools, the principles discussed are relevant to interactions with learners of any age." - DVD CASE; In this DVD Mark Barber, Karryn Bowen and other support people are filmed during various sessions with children filmed in a school environment. Over the 60 minutes of the film we see them using a variety of techniques and responses including sabotage, echo, mutual adjustments and imitation. The whole idea is that there will be open ended communication between the two participants. Bianna Bowen provides the voice-over explanation throughout It was noticeable that the carers were totally committed to what they were doing. Concentrating and focussing on the children they were involved with, their patience and dedication eliciting responses in each of the sessions depicted. The end scene is perhaps the most interesting and revealing. In this one we see two children touching and communicating, each in his own way, but also obviously trying to work towards a mutual rapport ER -
