He wrote the book from "Kylie's perspective to allow the reader to experience an insight into Kylie's life." Expanded to cover societal attitudes to individuals with disabilities. Questions what is normal. Asserts that Kylie's life puts so called normal people's hardships into perspective; Reagan Davis has written an imaginative exploration of the thoughts, feelings and aspirations that he concludes his sister Kylie is most probably experiencing. His conclusions are drawn from personal observation and interaction with Kylie from the day she was born. Right from his opening statement, “My sister Kylie Davis has cerebral palsy and I have always wondered what she must by thinking. Put yourself in her shoes.” Reagan has written a straightforward personal account as if Kylie herself is letting us know how her life differs from others and yet at the same time it is normal for her. It doesn’t matter that Kylie is in actuality unable to speak, nor does it matter that this is Reagan’s imagination at work. What does matter is that this is also a sensitive piece of writing that will help to break down the barriers for those who are unable to see past the disability to who the person really is. ER -
