The develpoment of prewiting skills is particularly important for children wit Down syndrome. These skills refer to the ability to form letters correctly. Learning to write will not take place in a random fashion. The specific areas of difficulty experienced by most children with Down syndrome, preclude them from learning to form letters from observing what others are doing.
A structured pre-writing skills programme is required for children with Down syndrome to achieve success in individual letter formation , in preparation for writing words.
