Summary: "Bloom is one of the most emotionally stirring books I've ever read. Kelle Hampton writes with such breathtaking honesty that I actually felt as if I were in the room with her when she gave birth to Nella... and I cried along with her as her initial fears about baby Nella proved true. But mostly, I celebrated as Kelle fell madly in love with Nella and began to realize that being her mother is nothing short of her preordained purpose. This story is a reminder that perfect, when it comes to human beings, is such a relative (and irrelevant) term... and that a mother's love for her child is a powerful, eternal, unshakeable force." - Ree Drummond." - BOOK JACKETReview: Kelle Hampton, a woman who appears to have it all, has her life thrown out of balance as she realises that her new born daughter, Nella, has Down syndrome. As she shares the news with family and friends she must deal with their responses while grieving for the baby she had anticipated and for the sister she had planned for her elder daughter. Over the first hours and days Kelle grows to love Nella and to embrace the gift she and her family have been given. This heart-warming account of Nella’s first year tells of Kelle’s acceptance of her daughter’s difference, her energetic approach to learning about Down syndrome and mothering her two beautiful little girls. Bloom is beautifully written and, with full-colour photographs, is an inspirational, encouraging and at times humorous story of motherhood, challenges and joy.

Good for parents with a newly diagnosed Down syndrome child - up to around 1 year of age, so not very useful for parents beyond that stage. Good insight for professionals working with Down S 0-1 yr of age. Photos were touchingly beautiful!
