Summary: "The 'Keep Safe' booklet contains advice on how to keep safe when at home (including the good doorstep protocol to prevent distraction burglary) and when out and about, including tips on using public transport and cash machines. It also deals with bullying, attacks and mugging, which often go unreported to the police." - HOME OFFICE WEBSITESummary: New Zealand readers should disregard the phone numbers on page 26Review: This booklet is all about how to stay safe both at home and out in the community. Although a British publication all of the steps to safety translate well into the New Zealand setting, the only rider to that being the suggested (British) telephone numbers for emergency use listed towards the end of the booklet. All the relevant points are made in short succinct one sentence statements and are accompanied by colourful illustrations done by Fran Jordan. The areas of concern cover safety in the home, on the telephone, while travelling or getting cash out. There is also advice on what to do when in trouble and who to talk to about personal safety. Although short, this booklet contains a lot of well set out, easy to follow and relevant information; it will be ideal for introducing discussion about personal safety to adults who may be unaware of potentially dangerous situations.
