Any transition has its own problems and opportunities, and the move from primary to secondary school is no exception to this. In ‘Making the move’ you will find useful advice and tools to help ease this transition towards a successful conclusion.<br/>The authors look at the build up towards the transition as well as the actual transition itself. They suggest helpful actions and procedures and offer advice on ways to develop and monitor the preparation that both the parents and children need to undertake.<br/>They use forms, symbols, diaries and guidelines. The last word is a take on the three Rs in this case the four Rs! Routine, Ritual, Repetition and Resources; Routine is for parents to establish; teachers are advised to use daily rituals; children need repetition to help them become confident and visual resources are a useful tool. The authors call the 4 Rs crucial elements for a happy and successful move.<br/>Kay Al-Ghani also wrote the Red Beast, a popular book about anger management which has also been accorded 5 stars by library borrowers. |
